When was the last time you took a break to escape? As cliché as it may sound, in life, you have to nourish if you want to flourish, and nourishment isn’t only about eating healthy or getting enough sun. It’s also how you prioritize yourself to be at your best. Let me be straight here –I enjoy my work, and I want to be able to run a successful business. However, I am also a firm believer that to do that, taking time away is an absolute must!
Every year I take a trip for myself twice a year somewhere within driving distance to decompress, reset, and get back on track with my goals.
Earlier this year, I went to Solvang, CA, for three days and stayed at the Lansbury Hotel, where I relaxed, decompressed, and focused on the things I love. It was perfect.
In today’s journal post, I am here to tell you three reasons why taking a break to escape is the BEST thing you can do as a small business owner!

Improve your Creativity
Sometimes you need a change of scenery and pace to encourage your brain to develop fresh ideas. I always find my creativity has improved, and I have more clarity after some time away.
Increase your Productivity
Rest is productive and necessary to avoid entrepreneurial burnout. Getting caught in the cycle of hustle mode and constantly working to meet goals is easy, but resting and recharging are essential to helping you and your business thrive.
Indulge in the Things you Love
Your escape is your time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and do the things you love outside of work. You deserve to have fun and relax without the guilt that you still have work to do, and you will feel refreshed and ready to return to your business as a result.
If you haven’t already, this is your sign to take a break and escape. I’ve never regretted taking time away to prioritize myself, and I’m sure you won’t either. I can’t wait to share with you my next mini-getaway!
