Owning a business comes with a lot of stress. As a female business owner, I know the challenges
that come along with it. You are expected to put your best foot forward for your clients and
employees, take care of the daily operations of your business, and find time for your personal
life as well. It can be easy to forget to take care of yourself in the process. Today in the journal, I
am talking about why self-care as a female business owner is so important.

It Gives You Time to Care of Your Mental Health
Self-care is an important way to take care of your mental health. As a business owner, the da
can be long and filled with stressful moments. You can’t continue to bring your best self to your
business. If you are going through each day feeling stressed to the max and not taking time for
yourself. This is what will lead to burnout. Once you hit the point of burnout, it can be a long
road to get to a good place mentally.
Your Productivity and Creativity Will Be Boosted
When you take the time for self-care, your body and mind will thank you. You will wake up each
day feeling more refreshed and ready to tackle your to-do list for the day. Giving your mind a
chance to recharge will also help to boost your creativity. When your mind is clear and not
overwhelmed, it gives space to think about the creative aspects of your business.
It Is Physically Important
Not only will stress lead to mental health problems, but it can take its toll physically on your
body. Stress presents itself in a variety of ways physically, and you do not want your stress levels
to hit the point that you end up in bed sick. By making time for self, you also allow your body to
recover and take a deep breath.
How to Make Time for Self-Care
When it comes to owning a business, everything else tends to come first. We always want to
make sure our clients are cared for and that our business is running smoothly. However, you
have to make the time for self-care. Schedule self-care into your calendar. Whether that means
you completely block your schedule for a weekend, turn your phone on airplane mode for a
couple of hours in the evening, or write your self-care plans into your calendar, you need to
make the time. Once you have scheduled your self-care, stick to that plan. It is okay to say no in
order to take care of yourself.
Self-care does not have to be anything extravagant. It could be reading your favorite book,
spending a night away with a friend or significant other, or watching your favorite show. It just
needs to be something you enjoy and will allow you to decompress.
Let me know if you plan to take more time for yourself in the coming months!
